A man armed with two kitchen knives attacked and injured three women in the Porte de Clichy area of the French capital, Paris. French police said the man was arrested after the intervention of citizens and an off-duty police officer.
According to French authorities, the suspect said when he was arrested: “Allah ordered me to do this.” However, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stressed that the man’s statements were incoherent and the main motive for the attack is still unknown. The identity of the suspect has not been officially announced yet.
Three women, aged 19, 24 and 36, were injured in the attack, two of whom are reported to be in serious condition, but French authorities have said their lives are not in immediate danger. The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office is also investigating the case to determine whether the attack was carried out with a terrorist motive.
