Panjshir Medicinal Plants Sale Contract Worth Nearly One Million Afs Signed
Kabul Times News – The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Panjshir Province has announced the signing of a contract to sell four types of medicinal plants in the province worth 981,740 Afs; a move aimed at supporting domestic production, developing the pharmaceutical industry and creating economic opportunities for residents.
According to the announcement of the department, the contract to sell these plants was signed through an official auction with the Aminur Rahman Rahmani Company and includes four types of medicinal plants: Panjingasht, Shira Kamal, Lerok and Khinekah.
Officials say that out of 39 types of medicinal plants identified in Panjshir Province, in the first phase, the contract to exploit and sell four types has been legally awarded. This move is aimed at creating a market for natural products, supporting private sector investment and increasing the income of local residents.
The Panjshir Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has emphasized that the process of harvesting medicinal plants with the aim of protecting the environment, preventing the destruction of native species and sustainable exploitation of natural resources is carried out within the framework of laws and through contracts with qualified companies.
Meanwhile, Engineer Gul Mohammad Tanin, head of natural resources of this department, said that about 4,904 hectares of the districts of Shatal, Rokha, Anaba, Hessa Awal, Paryan and the provincial center (Bazarak) are covered with these four types of medicinal plants that grow in the form of cars on the mountain slopes of Panjshir.
According to officials, so far 39 types of medicinal plants have been identified in Panjshir that have high potential for developing the pharmaceutical industry, increasing exports and strengthening the local economy. This program can be an important step towards the principled exploitation of natural resources and increasing the economic self-sufficiency of the residents of this province.
