The Taliban have dedicated this week's Friday prayer sermon to imposing further restrictions on wedding ceremonies.

In a sermon sent to mosque imams, the Taliban's Ministry of Promoting Good, Preventing Evil and Hearing Complaints and the Ministry of Guidance, Hajj and Endowments have called on people to refrain from what they call "unlawful practices and customs" at weddings and other happy ceremonies.

In this text, women's perfume, dancing, girls and boys getting to know each other during the engagement, exchanging rings, holding henna ceremonies, bridal makeup, mixing women and men, and playing music are among the things that the Taliban see as contrary to Sharia.

The directive also describes seating the bride and groom in front of guests as "unlawful" and asks ceremony organizers to refrain from such actions.

This move follows the Taliban's policies to restrict social gatherings and impose stricter regulations on the public life of citizens, especially women.
