Freedom Front reports massive attacks on Taliban positions in Badakhshan

The Afghan Freedom Front has announced that its fighters have launched massive attacks on Taliban positions in Zibak district of Badakhshan province since the morning of Thursday, August 1st; an operation that, according to the front, is still ongoing as of the time of publication of this report.
According to the Freedom Front, the operation was organized from several axes against Taliban bases, units and military positions in Zibak district. The front claims that its forces have succeeded in pushing the Taliban back from some positions and heights around the Zibak border trench.
The Freedom Front has also claimed that the Taliban’s efforts to retake these positions have so far failed and the group’s forces have suffered casualties in each attack.
The statement of the front stated that during the clashes, at least 21 Taliban members, including several commanders, were killed and 37 others were injured. According to the Freedom Front, the wounded Taliban were transferred to hospitals in Faizabad city and a number of districts of Badakhshan using helicopters.
The Freedom Front also claimed that a significant amount of light and heavy weapons, ammunition and military equipment of the Taliban fell into the hands of the front’s forces during this operation.
Kabul Times News was unable to independently verify these claims. As of the time of publication of this report, Taliban officials have not reacted to this operation and the alleged casualties.
