12-year-old child killed in Taliban shooting at protesters in Herat province.
A number of residents of Jibril town, Herat, including women, demonstrated today (Tuesday, June 10) in response to the arrest of women on the pretext of not wearing a hijab.
The Taliban used violence and gunfire to disperse the protesters, as a result of which two women and a boy were injured.
A source in Herat who participated in the protest said that the Taliban shot a young boy who was running away from the protest.
The protester said that he asked the boy not to run away and to take part in the protest; but the Taliban injured everyone and arrested a number of protesters, including women.
According to this source, the Taliban are now checking the phones of citizens at mobile checkpoints on every street.
With the death of this child, the number of deaths has reached 4 and more than 80 people have been injured.
This is while a Taliban unit has been deployed in Jibraeel town and has also begun house-to-house searches in some areas.
