BISHKEK: Pakistan, Russia sign new security agreements
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi met with his counterparts from the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) during a special meeting of interior ministers and public security in Bishkek.
According to reports, the Pakistani interior minister met with five other interior ministers and signed important security agreements with the Russian Federation.
The agreements aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation in combating illegal migration, drug trafficking, terrorism, and expediting the deportation and repatriation of undocumented persons.
Officials from both countries have stressed that these agreements are an important step towards increasing security cooperation and confronting common regional threats.
A meeting of ministers of internal affairs and public security of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on June 5, and participants exchanged views on security issues, the fight against organized crime, and strengthening regional cooperation.
