Title: UNICEF announces distribution of educational materials to four million children in Afghanistan
Backtiter: Educational aid continues while millions of girls are deprived of education
Kabul – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that the organization, in cooperation with its partners, has distributed educational materials to about four million children in Afghanistan and has participated in the reconstruction of hundreds of schools.
Tajuddin Oywale, UNICEF Representative in Afghanistan, said today (Wednesday, May 6) in a message on the X social network that the organization was able to help reconstruct 232 schools in different parts of the country in addition to distributing educational materials.
According to him, these measures have led to the creation of more suitable spaces for the education and development of children throughout Afghanistan. “Every child deserves a safe place to learn and the tools to build their future,” Oywale stressed.
However, this assistance comes at a time when an estimated two million girls in Afghanistan are reportedly denied access to education due to restrictions imposed by the Taliban, an issue that continues to raise widespread domestic and international concerns.
International bodies have repeatedly called for the lifting of restrictions on girls’ education and have emphasized the equal right to education for all children.
