U.S. President Donald Trump announced that “Project Freedom,” the U.S.-led initiative supporting and overseeing ship movement through the Strait of Hormuz, will be temporarily suspended for a short period.
Trump stated: “The blockade of Iran will continue, and we are pausing Project Freedom in the Strait of Hormuz for a short time to see whether we can reach an agreement or not.”
The U.S. president emphasized that the pause is intended to allow space for negotiations, while Washington’s pressure and restrictions on Iran will remain in place.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most strategic maritime routes for global oil shipments, and any development in the area could have significant political and economic consequences worldwide.
