Taliban Seal 19 Money Exchanges in Helmand for Lack of New Licenses

Kabul Times News – Local sources in Helmand province say the Taliban government has closed and sealed 19 money exchange centers in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital, for not having licenses in accordance with new regulations.

According to the sources, the move was taken by a joint Taliban delegation headed by officials from the Afghan Central Bank’s office in “Market Adel.” During an inspection of the money exchange centers, the delegation sealed the centers that had failed to renew or obtain their operating licenses in accordance with the new guidelines.

According to available information, the closed money exchange centers will not be allowed to resume operations until they receive new licenses.

This move is in continuation of the Taliban’s policies to impose new regulations on financial markets and money exchange operations; a move that, according to the group’s officials, is aimed at regulating financial activities and increasing oversight of the foreign exchange market. However, some market participants have expressed concern about the consequences of these restrictions on financial transactions and the business of money changers.
