The Republic of Tajikistan newspaper published its first issue in Persian script (ancestral script) after 114 years.

On (March 22, 2026), the official newspaper of the Republic of Tajikistan published four issues in four scripts and languages, one of which was in Persian script. This action attracted widespread attention from Persian-speaking people around the world.
The last newspaper previously published in Persian script in Tajikistan was "Bukharai Sharif", which was officially and nationally published in this script 114 years ago (around 1912). After that, due to political developments and cultural pressures, the publication of the newspaper in Persian script was stopped.
This important initiative was carried out with the direct support of the President of Tajikistan and under the management of Gurbanali Rakhmonzadeh, the editor-in-chief of the Republic newspaper. The publication of this issue in Persian script is a historic step in Tajik journalism and a practical measure to strengthen cultural ties between Persian-speaking peoples of the world.
This special issue, published on the eve of Nowruz, contains valuable material entitled “Aryanameh” about the history, culture, and signs of Iranian-Tajik civilization. This material can be read directly and without the need for translation by all Persian-speaking people.
Publishing the official newspaper of a country in four languages ​​and scripts (including Persian script) not only increases the cultural and international prestige of Tajikistan, but is also considered a lasting gift from President Emomali Rahmon to foreign guests, especially Persian-speaking people.
This action is a partial fulfillment of the recommendations of the Tajik leader to preserve cultural identity and build bridges between Persian-speaking communities, and will be recorded as an important event in the contemporary history of Tajikistan.
