Controversial Taliban Pledge Revealed; Private University Students Require Hanafi Jurisprudence

New documents show that the Taliban are also receiving mandatory pledges from private university students to follow the Hanafi school of thought.

A copy of this pledge, which has reached some media outlets and is from the private "Meehan" University in Kabul, shows that in Article 6, students are required to follow Hanafi jurisprudence. Informed sources say that signing this document has been made mandatory for all students.

This move is being assessed by observers as a continuation of the Taliban's pressure on religious minorities and Shiite students. Earlier, reports of similar restrictions and commitments were published in some universities in Herat and Nangarhar.
