In the past five years, the Taliban have received about $14 billion in domestic income and $16 billion in foreign aid, totaling $30 billion. The opposition has asked the Taliban to provide details of how these financial resources were spent to the Afghan people.
In this statement, former parliamentarian Sattar Hosseini claimed that despite these revenues, the economic and livelihood situation of citizens has not improved and many people are still facing poverty, unemployment and livelihood problems. According to him, significant investments have not been made in infrastructure sectors, including education, health, road construction and economic development.
The former parliamentarian also accused the Taliban of mismanaging financial resources, handing over mines to foreign companies and misusing public assets, and has called on the international community to investigate and clarify how international revenues and aid are spent.
The Taliban have not yet responded to these claims and have not officially commented on the figures raised or how the revenues were spent.
