Following growing concerns about the situation of women's rights in Afghanistan, a network of activists called the "Women's Support Network" has issued a statement, reporting an escalation in repression, arrests and mysterious killings of women in recent weeks.

The statement states that women in Kabul and other provinces are facing a "catastrophic and deadly situation." According to the network, cases such as disappearances, imprisonment and systematic elimination of women continue on a large scale.

The organization also described arbitrary arrests, torture, threats and violent behavior by the Taliban-affiliated Amr Bil Marouf forces as "crimes against humanity" and clear violations of human rights.

Another part of the report emphasizes that Afghan women are targeted for arrest and repression only for their civil protest and demand for basic rights such as education, work and social participation.

The Women's Support Network has also warned that creating a climate of fear and continuing this process is an attempt to silence women's voices, but they believe that women's struggle for freedom and justice will continue.

The network has called on the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and free media not to remain silent in the face of what it calls "crimes against Afghan women" and to take immediate steps to stop this process, release the detained women, and end the repression.

The statement concludes by stating that the silence of the international community regarding the situation of Afghan women would mean sharing in this humanitarian crisis.
