Taliban Border Minister: Opposition has no place in Afghanistan; People’s support for the Emirate is based on consent
Kabul Times News | Afghanistan
Mullah Noorullah Noori, the Taliban government’s Minister of Borders, Ethnic Affairs and Tribes, claimed that the group’s opponents have no place in Afghanistan and that people’s support for the Taliban government is based on consent and religious beliefs, not coercion.
Noori made these remarks during his speech in Sar-e-Pul province, saying that officials of the previous government do not have the right to talk about freedom. He claimed that the previous government has failed to provide security, stability and welfare of the people over the past two decades.
The Taliban minister also emphasized that people’s support for the group’s government is based on religious beliefs and public trust, not the use of force or pressure.
These remarks come at a time when the Taliban opposition continues its activities and human rights organizations and some international reports have reported widespread restrictions on civil liberties, the arrest of critics and increasing dissatisfaction in some areas of Afghanistan.
The Taliban have so far denied these reports and insist that security and stability are in place throughout the country.
