Iranian President's Visit to Pakistan

Along with the official visit of Dr. Masoud Pezzekian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to Pakistan, a high-ranking Iranian political and diplomatic delegation arrived in Islamabad and began its official meeting schedule.

According to published reports, upon his arrival in Islamabad, the Iranian President met with the Pakistani Prime Minister and discussed the expansion of bilateral relations, economic, security and regional cooperation. The meeting was held within the framework of strengthening Tehran-Islamabad relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

In the same framework and before the arrival of the President, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, also visited Islamabad. Upon his arrival, he was officially welcomed by the Pakistani Foreign Minister, the Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad and a group of Pakistani officials.

During this visit, Araqchi met with senior Pakistani officials and the focus of the talks was said to include bilateral relations, regional developments and diplomatic coordination between the two countries.

This visit is taking place in a situation where both sides emphasize the need to strengthen political and economic cooperation as well as greater coordination at the regional level.
