Economist: Saudi Arabia asks Trump to postpone possible attack on Iran until after Hajj

The Economist reported that Saudi officials have asked former US President Donald Trump to postpone any possible new attack on Iran until after the Hajj.

According to the report, the main concern of Saudi officials is the safety of the millions of Muslim pilgrims who are in Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj rituals. Informed sources have said that if the fighting in the region resumes, there is a possibility of closing air routes and creating a security crisis; a situation that could leave thousands of pilgrims stranded and trapped in Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region.

The Economist added that Saudi officials are concerned that an escalation of tension between Iran and the United States or Israel could seriously endanger regional stability, especially during the sensitive days of the Hajj. This comes at a time when the Middle East has witnessed an increase in political and military tensions in recent weeks.

So far, Donald Trump and Saudi officials have not publicly responded to the report.
