U.S. authorities have reported that two people were injured in a shooting near the White House, an incident that occurred just moments after the motorcade of Vice President JD Vance passed through the same area.
According to Matthew Quinn, Deputy Director of the U.S. Secret Service, the suspect was also injured during the incident and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
He added that a young child who was present near the scene was also injured; however, the child’s condition has been reported as stable and not life-threatening.
Security officials have launched an investigation into the motive and details of the shooting, while security measures around the White House have been significantly increased.
