Local sources in Badakhshan province say a 20-year-old woman named “Naziya” was shot dead in the Tashkan district of the province on Sunday, May 31.
According to initial information, the incident took place in a rural area of the Tashkan district and Naziya, who had recently married, lost her life as a result of the shooting.
Local sources have identified the woman’s husband as the main suspect in the case. However, further details about the possible motive for the incident have not been released and the investigation is ongoing.
Local residents have called for a comprehensive investigation into the case and legal action against the perpetrators. So far, local authorities have not made any official comments on the outcome of the investigation or the possible arrest of the suspect.
The incident comes as concerns about domestic violence and the murder of women continue in some parts of Afghanistan, and women's rights groups have repeatedly stressed the need for justice for victims.
