Reports of arrest of female education official in Daikundi

Local sources in Daikundi province say that a female education official has been arrested by the Taliban.
According to sources, Taiba Hafezi, the principal of Bandar Center Girls’ High School in Sangtakht and Bandar districts, was arrested after she refused to hand over her smartphone to Taliban forces.
Sources added that Taliban forces had visited the school to collect teachers’ smartphones. According to sources, after Ms. Hafezi refused to hand over her mobile phone, she was arrested by Taliban forces and transferred to an unknown location.
As of the time of publication of this report, Taliban officials in Daikundi have not officially commented on the incident and the reason for Ms. Hafezi’s arrest.
This comes at a time when reports of restrictions and increased surveillance on educational activities and staff of educational institutions have been published in some provinces of Afghanistan.
