Belgian Foreign Minister: I oppose inviting Taliban delegation to Brussels

Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Pervoux announced that he opposes inviting Taliban representatives to Brussels and considers this decision inappropriate.

However, he emphasized that Belgium, as the host of European Union institutions, cannot completely prevent the invited delegations from attending the meetings of this institution.

Pervoux also said that the issue of recognizing the Taliban government is not on the agenda and that such an interpretation should not be made of the holding of these meetings.

According to the Belgian Foreign Minister, inviting Taliban representatives does not mean acceptance or recognition of this group by the European Union or the Belgian government.
