Shakira unveils official song for 2026 World Cup
Colombian pop star Shakira unveiled the official song for the 2026 World Cup, titled "Dai Dai," on Thursday, according to Reuters.
The 49-year-old singer released a video on her Instagram page, introducing parts of the song to fans from Brazil's historic Maracana Stadium.
The song also features Nigerian artist Burna Boy. The song is set to be officially released on May 14.
In the video, Shakira is seen alongside a group of dancers dressed in the colors of the national teams participating in the 2026 World Cup.
The 2026 World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
In parts of the video, images of the official balls of the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups are also seen; a topic that refers to Shakira's presence and prominent role in previous eras of these competitions.
Shakira has previously made a musical appearance at several World Cups; including performing the famous song "Waka Waka" at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, which became one of the most iconic songs in the history of the competition.
She also appeared at the 2006 World Cup in Germany with the song "Hips Don't Lie" and at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with the song "La La La".
