Taliban expresses concern over expansion of opposition fronts; intelligence warns of worsening security situation in north

According to a text allegedly prepared by the Taliban’s General Directorate of Intelligence, the organization confirmed the presence of about 1,200 forces affiliated with the National Resistance Front, the Freedom Front, and the Sepahians in Badakhshan, Nuristan, and Panjshir provinces and warned of the worsening security situation in northern and northeastern Afghanistan.
The document states that if the problems and demands of the people are not addressed effectively and promptly, the security situation in the northern and northeastern provinces of the country will become more critical than ever.
According to the content of this letter, the most important factors of people’s dissatisfaction are disputes over mining, forced marriages, and harassment of local residents. The document warns that continuing this trend could lead to increased public support for the opposition fronts of the Taliban and the expansion of their activities.
As of press time, the Taliban have not officially commented on the authenticity of the document, and Kabul Times News has not been able to independently verify its authenticity.
If confirmed, this document could be one of the few instances in which Taliban security agencies are internally warning of rising public discontent and its impact on the expansion of armed opposition groups.
