Border tension between Taliban and Pakistan; Armed clashes in Paktia and Kurram
Kabul Times News:
Local sources and Pakistani media have reported an armed clash between Taliban forces and Pakistani border guards along the border of Paktia province and Kurram region.
According to a report by Dawn newspaper, citing Pakistani security sources, Taliban members attacked several Pakistani border posts using light and heavy weapons. In return, Pakistani border forces targeted Taliban positions on the other side of the border with artillery attacks.
Reports indicate that after the exchange of fire, Taliban forces have retreated from some of their positions. However, so far, neither side has released official statistics on casualties or damage resulting from the clash.
Border tensions between Kabul and Islamabad continue while the Pakistani government has repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of harboring and supporting members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group; An accusation that the Taliban have always denied and have said they will not allow Afghan soil to be used against other countries.
This latest conflict comes at a time when relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have faced increasing challenges in recent months due to security and border issues.
