Former MP claims about rape of women prisoners in Herat; Taliban has not responded yet

Kabul Times News
Abdul Sattar Hosseini, a former member of the Afghan parliament, has released an audio tape claiming that a number of Taliban officers in Herat Women's Prison committed gang rape of women prisoners.

According to Hosseini, in this audio file, a woman who is said to be a prisoner of the prison claims that Taliban officers harassed and sexually assaulted female prisoners in groups at night.

Hosseini described this act as a "horrific crime" and called on international and human rights organizations to investigate these claims independently and immediately.

Kabul Times News has not been able to independently confirm the veracity of these claims, and Taliban officials have not provided any official response or comment on this matter as of the publication of this report.

If confirmed, such actions could be considered serious violations of human rights and international law and would require independent investigations and accountability of the perpetrators.
