Shahbaz Sharif: Fight against armed groups will continue until Pakistan’s security is fully ensured

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has once again accused the country’s armed opposition groups of using Afghan soil to carry out attacks inside Pakistan, and stressed that operations against these groups will continue until the security threats are completely eliminated.

Shahbaz Sharif said on Thursday at a meeting of the Supreme City Committee in Quetta that some armed groups have entered the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with financial and equipment support from “foreign agents” and are carrying out armed attacks.

The Pakistani Prime Minister also accused India of supporting these groups and claimed that some foreign actors are behind the recent insecurity in Pakistan. However, he did not provide any specific evidence or details for these claims in his speech.

These statements come at a time when Pakistani military officials have made similar allegations in recent days about India’s role and the use of Afghan soil by armed groups in recent attacks, especially in Balochistan. The Taliban have not yet responded to these accusations.

Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing full coordination between the government and Pakistani security forces, said that all the country’s facilities and capacities will be used to confront armed groups and restore security to insecure areas.

In recent weeks, the province of Balochistan has witnessed an increase in armed attacks. Pakistani officials say that as a result of these attacks and security operations, a number of security forces, police officers and civilians have been killed.

The increase in insecurity in Balochistan has once again raised concerns about the security situation in the border areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan and its consequences for regional stability.
