The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that U.S. forces have carried out strikes on more than 80 targets in Iran. According to the statement, the attacks were conducted in response to Iranian actions against oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

The U.S. military said the targets included air defense systems, coastal radar stations, anti-ship missile systems, and more than 60 small boats.

In addition, the United States has revoked authorization for the sale of Iranian oil in response to the incidents involving oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had targeted U.S. military facilities across the Middle East following the American strikes.

A U.S. official told The Wall Street Journal that Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz were unacceptable and warranted a strong response. However, Washington will continue negotiations with Tehran despite the escalation.
