Following the recent developments in Afghanistan; Emphasis on the preference for a political solution over military confrontation

Afghanistan has witnessed important developments in the political and security arena in recent days. Reports and political movements at the domestic, regional and international levels show that the country has entered a sensitive and decisive stage; a stage that can both pave the way for overcoming the crisis and, in the absence of prudence and responsibility, lead to the risk of intensifying instability.
The experience of the past four decades has clearly proven that war, elimination, revenge and violence have never been a sustainable solution to the Afghan crisis. Our nation has paid a heavy price as a result of civil wars, political disputes and foreign interventions and today, more than ever, it wants peace, stability and the establishment of an inclusive political system based on the will of the people.
Defenders of Afghanistan’s national interests, with a sense of national and historical responsibility, call on all political, military, and social movements in the country to prioritize national interests, independence, territorial integrity, national unity, and the future of future generations over any short-term political or military gain.
We believe that the only way out of the current crisis is through honest dialogue between all relevant parties, acceptance of political realities, and movement toward national understanding; an understanding in which the rights, human dignity, and fair participation of all Afghan citizens are guaranteed, without any discrimination.
We also call on regional countries and the international community, at this critical juncture, to refrain from any action that could lead to increased tension, military confrontation, and further instability in Afghanistan, and to support peace processes, intra-Afghan dialogue, and the establishment of lasting stability.
We call on political leaders, scholars, ethnic elders, elites, youth, women, civil society and all caring forces of the country to play an active and constructive role, with a sense of national responsibility, to prevent the repetition of past tragedies and to form a national consensus for peace and stability.
Finally, we emphasize that protecting the lives of the people, protecting national interests, safeguarding the independence and territorial integrity of Afghanistan and preventing any civil war is a common responsibility on the shoulders of all of us. Our decisions today will determine the future of Afghanistan. It is hoped that wisdom, dialogue, solidarity and national interests will overcome violence, confrontation and disagreement and that the country will take steps on the path of peace, justice, stability and sustainable development.
