KABUL – At least 18 people were killed and 29 others injured after a vehicle carrying families returning from Pakistan overturned in Laghman province, Taliban officials said on Saturday (June 29). According to Habibullah Mubariz, the Taliban’s traffic manager in Laghman, a truck carrying families returning from Pakistan veered off the road and overturned.

According to the information provided, five women and ten children were among the victims of the accident.

The Taliban said that the injured in the accident have been transferred to the Nangarhar Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, health sources said that the condition of a number of the injured is critical and there is a possibility of increasing casualties.

The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined and investigations are ongoing.
