At the beginning of the 1405 academic year, girls’ exclusion from education beyond the sixth grade continued for the fifth consecutive year. This restriction has deprived millions of girls of their fundamental right and has serious consequences such as increasing poverty, widening inequality, early marriages, and a decline in the role of women in society.
Removing half of the population from the education system not only undermines the future of a generation, but also poses a serious crisis to the country’s development and reconstruction path. The shortage of female health workers and the deprivation of women from appropriate health services put the lives of thousands of people at risk.
We call on the international community to hear the voices of Afghan women, support our right to education and fundamental rights, and stand with us against this injustice.
