Afghan boxer arrested in Athens on suspicion of murdering Scottish aid worker

Greek police have arrested an Afghan boxer on suspicion of murdering a Scottish aid worker in Athens.

According to Greek authorities, Sharif Ahmadzai has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Scottish aid worker Elizabeth Jane Ross and is due to appear in court today. The woman’s body was found inside a suitcase in an abandoned building in Athens.

Greek police say the suspect has confessed to transporting the body, using the victim’s bank cards and sending messages from her mobile phone after her death.

Judicial authorities have stressed that investigations into the motive for the murder and other aspects of the case are still ongoing.
