White House: Talks with Iran continue; Trump reimposes naval blockade on Iranian ports

The White House has announced that despite the escalation of tensions and recent attacks, talks between Iran and the United States are continuing and Tehran has expressed its desire to reach an agreement with Washington.

In response to a question about the fate of the talks after the recent attacks, White House spokeswoman Carolyn Levitt said that she had discussed the issue with US President Donald Trump about an hour ago. According to her, Iran is still consulting with the US and has expressed its readiness to reach an agreement, although, according to her, Iran has suffered “devastating strikes” from the US military at the same time.

Levitt also claimed that the US government has reimposed a naval blockade on ships that only enter or leave Iranian ports.

According to the White House spokesman, this action was taken on the orders of the US President and the reason for it was stated as “Iran’s failure to comply with its obligations to the United States.”

In contrast, the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have not yet officially responded to these statements, and further details about the status of the negotiations have not been published.
