As tensions between Iran and the United States increase, a London-based military analyst has warned that Washington may be considering the option of carrying out a limited ground attack against some strategic targets in Iran.
Alex Al-Firaz Shears, a military analyst, said in an interview with the media that Qeshm Island is of high strategic importance due to the location of an important part of Iran's asymmetric capabilities and that the United States is trying to reduce Tehran's ability to threaten commercial shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to him, the United States has simultaneously increased economic and military pressure on Iran and Washington's new approach may be different from previous operations.
Shears also stated that with increasing dissatisfaction and political pressure on the US government, the possibility of starting the initial stages of planning for a limited ground attack on some strategic areas and even parts of Iranian territory has been raised more than before.
The analyst emphasized that the recent US attacks could be part of a broader Washington strategy to change the balance of power and increase pressure on Tehran, although no US official has yet confirmed such a scenario.
