Sources: About 600 Taliban forces transferred from southern provinces to Badakhshan

Kabul Times News | Badakhshan – Local sources say that about 600 Taliban forces from southern provinces of Afghanistan, wearing civilian clothes, entered the headquarters of the Badakhshan military division yesterday evening.

According to the sources, these forces are to replace a number of local Taliban forces in Badakhshan who have been disarmed or dismissed from their duties in recent weeks.

Sources also claim that this transfer is a continuation of the security changes in Badakhshan and its goal is to disarm and abandon most of the local Taliban forces in the province.

These developments are taking place while reports of increased tensions, troop movements and Taliban security measures have been published in recent weeks in Badakhshan. Local sources have also reported the deployment of more forces and intensified security measures in parts of the province.

As of the time of publication of this report, Taliban officials have not responded to these claims, and this information has not been independently verified.
