Suspicious death of Afghan woman in Canada; 18-year-old son arrested on murder charges

A 41-year-old Afghan woman named Yasmin Attaei has died following a suspicious incident related to domestic violence at her home in Sherbrooke, Canada.
According to information released by the Canadian police, Ramesh Attaei, the woman’s 18-year-old son, has been arrested on charges of second-degree murder, causing bodily harm and assault, and the judicial process of this case is ongoing.
Police officials have announced that another person was also injured in the incident, but his identity and further details about his condition have not been released yet. According to police, initial evidence indicates that a hard or blunt object was used in this incident and investigations are ongoing to clarify the motive and how this incident occurred.
According to reports, the Attaei family immigrated to Canada after the developments in Afghanistan in 2021 and were living in this country.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the issue of domestic violence, mental health, and the need for immigrant families to access support services.
This comes as several cases of domestic violence among Afghan citizens have been reported in Canada, Germany, France, and the United States in recent months.
