Mysterious Death of Pregnant Woman in Takhar; Zahra’s Family Accuses Husband of Murder After Beating

Kabul Times News – Shahbanoo Noori

Local sources in Takhar Province have reported the death of a 30-year-old woman named Zahra; a woman who, according to her family, was pregnant with twins and died after being severely beaten by her husband.

According to sources, the incident took place on Sunday evening last week in the village of Souk in the vicinity of Faring County. Sources say that after her death, Zahra’s husband hanged her body and then contacted her family and claimed that Zahra committed suicide.

However, Zahra’s family strongly rejects this narrative. They say that there were clear signs of beatings on her body and that her death was the result of domestic violence, not suicide. The victim’s family has called for a transparent investigation and prosecution of the perpetrators of this incident.

According to available information, Zahra’s husband, Haji, met and married Zahra after the fall of the republic and he immigrated to Iran. He had recently returned to Afghanistan and was living in a house with his first wife, his children, Zahra, and her young daughter.

The incident comes as reports of violence against women in Afghanistan continue to rise, raising concerns among women’s rights activists and human rights organizations.

As of press time, local Taliban officials have not commented on the suspect’s arrest or the initiation of a formal investigation into the case.
