Three years after the murder of Ilyas Momand; Victim's father: Taliban have released the accused
Kabul Times News | The father of Ilyas Momand, who was murdered in a criminal incident three years ago, says that despite the passage of three years in this case, the perpetrators of his son's murder have not only not been punished, but the arrested individuals have also been released by the Taliban.
Momand, the victim's father, apparently stated that Taliban officials have asked him to submit a new request to re-investigate the case. According to him, out of the 12 accused in this case, only four were arrested, but those same individuals were later released without any specific results.
Criticizing the process of handling this case, he called for justice to be served and for the authorities to be held accountable for the release of the accused.
This case has once again increased criticism of the Taliban's performance in handling criminal cases. Critics say that while the Taliban has repeatedly talked about providing security and reducing crime, reports of the release of defendants and the failure to resolve criminal cases have heightened concerns about how justice is being served and the rights of victims are being addressed.
At the time of publication, the Taliban had not yet officially responded to the allegations made by the family of Ilyas Momand.
