A number of Afghan citizens, human rights activists, and supporters of the right to education held a peaceful rally in Sao Paulo, Brazil yesterday, demanding the rights of Afghan women and children and the reopening of educational centers for girls.

At the rally, Professor Dr. Mohammad Yama Shahab, a university professor and one of the participants in the program, emphasized the importance of education and awareness, saying that the Afghan people want a society based on science, knowledge, and development, not violence and extremism.

In his speech, he stated: “We are people of knowledge, education, and awareness. Society is built with books, not with guns; it grows with education, not with deprivation.”

Participants in the gathering emphasized the right of Afghan girls to access education, continue their education, and participate in building the country's future, and called on the international community, human rights organizations, and international organizations to support the right of Afghan girls to education.

Professor Shahab also considered the deprivation of millions of girls from education to be the deprivation of a nation from its future, and called on international organizations to stand with Afghan women and girls.

The gathering was held with slogans in support of education, freedom, human dignity, and the rights of Afghan women.
