Kabul Times News | Balkh
Local sources in Balkh province have reported that a 28-year-old woman and her current husband were killed in a violent attack in the Noorkhoda neighborhood of Mazar-e-Sharif.
According to the information released, the woman had married another man about three months after divorcing her ex-husband and was living with her new husband and his eight-year-old son.
According to local sources, a person identified as the woman’s ex-husband entered the couple’s home and attacked them with a knife. As a result of the attack, the woman died on the spot and her husband died the next morning from his injuries after being transferred to the intensive care unit of the hospital. The sources also said that the incident took place in front of the family’s eight-year-old child.
The suspect fled the scene after the incident, sources said, and had not been arrested by the time of publication. A source close to the family also claimed that the woman had previously received several death threats after separating from her ex-husband.
Authorities have not yet commented on the motive for the attack or the progress of the case.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns about domestic violence and the security challenges faced by women in Afghanistan, especially after divorce. However, details of the case are still under investigation and Kabul Times News will update this report as official information becomes available.
