Local sources in Jawzjan province say the fatal traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday evening on the Jawzjan-Sari Pul highway, leaving four dead and four injured, was caused by “speeding and recklessness” of the car carrying the Taliban governor’s son.

According to sources, the accident occurred when a Hilux car carrying the Taliban governor’s son collided with a Vitz car. As a result of the collision, four passengers of the Vitz car died on the spot and four others were injured.

Sources added that the son of the Taliban governor was also injured in the incident. Also, a person named “Qari Abu Bakr” who was with him lost his life in the accident.

Despite the release of this information by local sources, the Taliban security command in Jawzjan has so far only confirmed the occurrence of the accident and its casualty figures, and has not provided an explanation about the identity of the occupants of the Hilux vehicle and the possible role of the Taliban governor's son in this incident.

Meanwhile, Afghan domestic media has not yet published details about how the accident occurred and the claims made about the role of the vehicle carrying the Taliban governor's son.

This is while traffic accidents in Afghanistan claim the lives of hundreds of people every year, and experts consider illegal speeding, reckless drivers, and weak enforcement of traffic laws to be the main factors behind the increase in these incidents.
