Two cars fall into Kabul River; one body and one car found after a few days

The Taliban in Kabul have announced that one of the two cars carrying families that went missing in the Kabul River in Surobi district a few days ago, has been found with the body of a woman.

The Taliban’s 313th Central Army Corps issued a press release on Thursday saying that the search operation to find the other victims and the second car is still ongoing.

According to the information released, two “Fielder” and “Aqua” cars veered off the road and fell into the Kabul River in the “Sang Surkh” area of the Kabul-Jalalabad highway last week. Eight people, including two men, two women and four children, went missing in the incident.

The Taliban have said that the “Fielder” car was pulled out of the water yesterday and the body of a woman was also found inside it; but the fate of the other passengers and the second car is not yet known.

Meanwhile, the increase in traffic accidents in Afghanistan has sparked widespread concern among citizens. Residents say that the deterioration of roads, the lack of standard traffic signs and reckless drivers are among the main factors behind the increase in these deadly accidents.
In recent weeks, dozens of people have been killed or injured in similar incidents in different provinces of the country.
