Taliban house-to-house search operation resumes in northern Kabul

Local sources in Kabul, sending audio tapes to Kabul Times News, say that Taliban forces have begun house-to-house search operations in the Qasba area of Kabul’s 15th security district since Sunday morning.
According to the sources, Taliban members have entered people’s homes without prior coordination and with a “harsh and irresponsible” approach and are inspecting different parts of the houses. Local residents say that this process has caused fear, anxiety and widespread disorder among families.
A number of residents of the town claim that these searches mostly targeted Tajik and Hazara homes, while Pashtun homes were rarely searched. These residents described the Taliban’s behavior as “discriminatory” and called for an end to such practices.
Sources also added that during the searches, Taliban forces rearranged the belongings and furniture that families had prepared for Eid al-Fitr, causing damage and inconvenience to the people.
So far, the Taliban have not officially said anything about the purpose of the operation, but local residents are concerned that these searches are more about pressure, identification and creating fear among the people.
Some citizens also claim that after identifying homes that are in a better economic situation, the possibility of abuse and looting of people’s property increases; a claim that has not been independently verified.
In this case, Kabul Times News has witnessed the sending of several audio tapes from residents of Kabul city since this morning.
