The incident took place at the intersection of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, near one of the White House security perimeter checkpoints.

According to American media reports, the attacker was a 21-year-old man identified as “Nasir Best.” It is reported that he pulled a handgun out of his bag and opened fire toward the security area. Secret Service agents immediately returned fire and wounded him. The attacker later died after being transferred to a hospital.

In the incident, a passerby was also injured, but no details have yet been released regarding his condition. Security officials stated that none of the Secret Service personnel were harmed.

Reports indicate that Nasir Best had a history of mental health issues and had previously attempted to enter the White House in July 2025. Following that incident, he was arrested and transferred to a psychiatric treatment center.

According to news sources, the attacker posted unusual content on social media and at times referred to himself as “Jesus Christ” or “the son of God.” However, officials have not yet provided details about the exact motive behind the attack.

At the time of the incident, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, was inside the White House.

A Secret Service spokesperson stated that the incident posed no direct threat to Trump. Trump also thanked security personnel for their “quick and professional actions” in a message posted on the social media platform “Truth Social,” and wrote that the attacker had “violent tendencies.”

So far, no officially confirmed image of Nasir Best has been widely released, and most media outlets have only published photographs from the scene and the presence of security forces.
