Mortezai ends cooperation with Afghan futsal; emphasizes the need for change to maintain honors.

Majid Mortezai, former head coach of the Afghan national futsal team, announced after ending his cooperation with the team that Afghan futsal needs a “fresh spirit” and fundamental changes to continue its path of success and meet the growing expectations of the people.

Referring to the historical achievements of the Afghan national futsal team, Mortezai said that during his cooperation, the team was able to climb to fifth place in Asia and twenty-first place in the world; a success that many believe is a turning point in Afghan sports.

He added that during this period, extensive efforts were made to discover new talents and develop professional futsal in the country, but this process cannot continue without technical and structural reforms.

The former national team coach also emphasized that despite the interest in continuing cooperation, the lack of necessary changes in the management structure and future plans has destroyed the basis for continuing joint work.

Mortezai’s statements come at a time when Afghan futsal has become one of the most successful sports in the country in recent years and has managed to attract widespread attention from fans inside and outside Afghanistan. Sports experts believe that maintaining this position requires professional management, targeted investment, and sustainable support for players and technical staff.
