A number of Kabul school students protest against the shortage of teachers and the lack of curricula

A number of students from some schools in Kabul launched a symbolic protest against the shortage of teachers and the lack of regular educational programs.

In the images published from this protest, it can be seen that students are sleeping on chairs inside the classrooms; an action that, according to them, is a symbol of the “practical closure of the education process” and the lack of effective teaching in schools.

Some of the protesting students say that in a number of classes, weeks pass but for some subjects, teachers have not been assigned or lessons are not held regularly.

One student, who did not want to be named, told Kabul Times News:
“We come to school every day, but many hours of class are spent without a teacher. Our future is uncertain in this situation.”

A number of families have also expressed concern about the educational situation in schools, stressing that the continuation of these problems could negatively affect the quality of education and the motivation of students.

Meanwhile, some education activists say that the shortage of teaching staff, management problems and the reduction of educational facilities are serious challenges for the education system in the country and that the relevant authorities need to take urgent measures to solve them.

So far, officials from the Ministry of Education or local administrations in Kabul have not responded to the protests.
