Local sources in Kunduz province told Kabul Times News that a 14-year-old girl committed suicide as a result of domestic violence in the Rustaqabad area of Kunduz city.
According to the sources, the incident took place yesterday in the vicinity of Sardoraa, 4th Alley of Rustaqabad, and the teenage girl ended her life using anti-lice medicine.
A close relative of the family, who did not want to be named in the report, told Kabul Times News that the girl had been under psychological pressure and domestic violence for a long time.
The source also added that about a year ago, the girl’s 17-year-old sister in the same family had also hanged herself and ended her life; an event that, according to local residents, has increased concerns about the psychological and social condition of the family members.
So far, local officials in Kunduz province have not officially commented on the incident.
The increase in suicides among women and girls in various parts of Afghanistan continues, while women's rights activists and social experts consider domestic violence, mental health problems, poverty, and social restrictions to be the main factors behind these incidents.
