British media have reported that Abdul Wali Mamozai, a former member of Afghanistan’s special forces, was killed following a confrontation in the town of Bracknell in Berkshire, United Kingdom.
The British newspaper The Sun reported that the 33-year-old man had recently gotten married and that his wife is pregnant. His wife, Habiba Haidari, told the newspaper that Abdul Wali was proud of his military past and often referred to his service in the Afghan special forces as an important part of his life.
According to The Sun, Abdul Wali Mamozai had arrived in the UK about seven months ago and had been living in hotels due to accommodation difficulties. It is also reported that he was working at a car wash to cover his living expenses.
The UK police said in a statement that four people were arrested in connection with the incident; however, they were later released on bail while the official investigation continues.
British media also noted that Abdul Wali Mamozai had been trained by British and US forces during his military service and was a member of Afghanistan’s special forces.
The exact motive and circumstances of the incident are still unclear, and police have stated that investigations are ongoing to determine all aspects of the case.
