Security concerns rise in Taloqan; private cars used in crimes

Some residents of Taloqan, the capital of Takhar, are expressing concern over the increasing insecurity and growth in urban crimes, saying that the use of private cars and unsupervised taxis in criminal incidents has increased.

Residents told Kabul Times News that in recent weeks, there has been an increase in thefts of cash, jewelry and mobile phones, and in some cases, threats and kidnappings have also been reported. According to them, unknown individuals use private cars to commute around the city and easily leave the area after committing the crime.

Citizens consider the lack of effective registration and control of vehicles as one of the main factors in this situation, emphasizing that anyone can use a car without checking; an issue that has paved the way for abuse.

Takhar residents also say that the responsible institutions' oversight of vehicles and urban security is not sufficient, and if this trend continues, the level of public trust in security management will decrease.
