Employees of Afshar Hospital in Omid Sabz Town, located in Darulaman area, claim in a message sent to Kabul Times News that Dr. Momin, the director of the hospital, has turned it into a place of abuse of resources and facilities for his own agenda.
These employees, who are afraid to mention their names due to threats from Momin’s doctor, are acting arbitrarily, and say that key and profitable positions in the hospital are entrusted to relatives and close associates of the director and that recruitment, salary increases, overtime allocation and assignment of privileges and responsibilities are done based on family affiliations and personal relationships. They emphasize that this position is not shared with other media outlets and believe that the hospital’s facilities, including vehicles, water tankers, equipment and medicines donated by charitable organizations, are used for the director’s personal expenses. According to oral allegations by employees, work pressure, forced resignation, unfair discounts on medicines and selling subsidised medicines instead of free distribution to the needy are other concerns at the hospital. Mohammad alias says that the public and health personnel are demanding that the Ministry of Public Health send a delegation to inspect the hospital, but the director has blocked such cases.
They say that the hospital is funded and equipped by a foreign institution, whose activities in the past were impressive and commendable; but with the appointment of a new director, the hospital has gradually distanced itself from its original mission and services to the needy and destitute have decreased, so that the center has become a “family center.”

Mohammad alias adds that 19 of the associates and relatives of Dr. Momin, the director of Afshar Hospital, were either directly employed by him or were provided with exam questions before the exam. It is also said that some of these people were appointed without announcing the position and through open competition.
Previously, other similar cases of corruption and Taliban restraint by civil servants have been reported, but the Taliban have repeatedly denied such cases.
