The US State Department has announced that the Taliban must immediately release all remaining US citizens in Afghanistan.
The department also described the release of US citizen Dennis Quayle as a “step in the right direction” and considered it a sign of possible progress in this area.
However, US officials have emphasized that the release of one individual is not enough and that all detained citizens must be released without delay.
