Afghanistan Ranked 157th Out of 163 Countries on the "Positive Peace" Index

According to a report by the Institute for Economics and Peace, Afghanistan has ranked 157th out of 163 countries worldwide on the "Positive Peace" index.

The report assigns Afghanistan a score of 4.19 out of 5 and notes that the country's standing on this index has deteriorated between 2015 and 2024.

A decline in political freedoms and press freedom, along with restrictions on the flow of information, are cited as factors linked to Afghanistan's drop in the "Positive Peace" index rankings.

The "Positive Peace" index examines the conditions, attitudes, institutions, and structures that contribute to the creation and maintenance of peaceful societies.
